Rest vs. Reset

Updated: 6 days ago

Resting and resetting are not always the same. Do you “rest” and still feel exhausted the next day even though all you did was clean, run errands, and watch movies?

Consider if you are INTENTIONALLY resting - doing things that allow your mind to unplug from technology and release the tension in your body. Once you rest, you can properly and fully reset.

Rest:

  • Read a fiction book

  • Walk outside while listening to music, a lighthearted podcast, fiction book, or nothing

  • Journal

  • Sleep without the TV on

  • Stretch - include a foam roller, yoga block, tennis ball, etc.

  • Hot shower, cold shower

  • Drink lots of water + include electrolytes

  • Make your meals at home or order from healthy places

  • Spend time unplugged from technology

Reset:

  • Get rid of clothes you don't LOVE and I mean love as in you would actively choose to spend money on it again right now.

    • Sell or give them away within 24 hrs.

  • Declutter your home

    • Get rid of the decor, mugs, books, etc. that you would not actively choose to spend money on it again right now.

    • Sell or give them away within 24 hrs.

  • Clean your spaces

    • Deep clean - like move furniture and get on your hands and knees to get into all the little crevasses that collect unseen dust.

    • Fully clean out your refrigerator, pantry and freezer. Get rid of anything that is empty, old or won't be used.

    • Clean your towels, sheets, etc. and/or get new ones.

  • Walk outside while listening to a non-fiction podcast or book

  • Go to a yoga class

  • Practice a guided meditation

  • Go do errands - fill your kitchen, get new flowers, bring the bags of clothes to Goodwill, etc.
